Sr. Consultant on Data & Analytics

FULL-TIME HYBRID DATA & ANALYTICS

You’re the kind of data professional who moves fluidly between architecture, engineering, analytics, and visualization, and turns business problems into practical solutions clients actually use. At Oxalis, that’s exactly who we need!

Location & Work Mode

  • Hybrid — based in or near one of our hub cities (Portland, Seattle, Austin, Bay Area, SoCal, Chicago, St. Louis, New York, or NCR/D.C. metro), with periodic visits to that hub. Expect additional periodic travel to client and company sites, including controlled or secure facilities.

About the Role

Oxalis is expanding its data and analytics capabilities to help clients get more value from the information generated across their technology and business ecosystems. We are looking for a senior data professional who can work across data architecture, engineering, analytics, and visualization while partnering directly with stakeholders to understand business problems and translate them into practical solutions.

This role will initially support a large public-sector client undergoing data and technology modernization while also helping build reusable data and analytics capabilities that can scale across Oxalis clients.

The right person will be comfortable moving between discovery, architecture, data engineering, analysis, visualization, and stakeholder conversations.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with client stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, data quality, integration, and decision-support needs.
  • Assess current-state data landscapes and identify gaps, duplication, manual processes, and modernization opportunities.
  • Design and implement scalable data models, pipelines, integrations, and analytics solutions.
  • Build reporting and visualization solutions in Power BI and other BI platforms where appropriate.
  • Establish data-quality monitoring, validation, and observability practices.
  • Help clients define metrics, metadata, lineage, governance, and trusted sources of data.
  • Translate complex data into useful insights for technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • Identify opportunities for self-service analytics, automation, predictive analytics, and AI-assisted data experiences.
  • Work across platforms and technologies to design solutions around client needs rather than a single toolset.
  • Help develop reusable data frameworks, patterns, accelerators, and delivery practices for Oxalis.
  • Mentor other consultants and contribute to the growth of Oxalis’s data and analytics practice.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience across data analytics, data science, analytics engineering, data engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience designing data models, pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and analytical datasets.
  • Significant experience with modern BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, or comparable technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience improving data quality, reliability, and monitoring.
  • Experience taking analytical or data products from exploratory work through production implementation.
  • Ability to work directly with stakeholders to turn ambiguous business problems into concrete analytical or technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
  • Comfort operating in complex environments where requirements, ownership, and data maturity may still be evolving.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with machine learning or predictive analytics.
  • Experience with enterprise data governance, metadata management, data catalogs, or lineage.
  • Experience with Jira, Jira Align, Atlassian Analytics, or the broader Atlassian ecosystem.
  • Consulting or professional-services experience.
  • Experience in public-sector, healthcare, or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience leading or mentoring analytics and data teams.

Why This Role Matters

  • You’ll shape how a large public-sector client uses its own data, not just maintain someone else’s dashboards
  • Broad ownership across architecture, engineering, analytics, and stakeholder strategy, not a single narrow slice of the data stack
  • A chance to help build Oxalis’ data and analytics practice from the ground up, with real influence on frameworks and standards
